Envola’s Flutter app worked, but the interface had become inconsistent and slow to change. The team wanted a new design system applied across the whole app, and nobody was allowed to touch the business logic that already worked.
( 02 )What I did
Design system
- I rebuilt the design system from the ground up, including tokens, typography and components.
- I delivered a component library and a Storybook so the team can build new screens the same way.
Build
- I redid the entire UI layer while respecting the existing architecture.
- I made no changes to the business logic. We verified it, and it mattered a lot to the client.
- I explained and documented my technical choices so the team could continue without me.

( 04 )The hard parts
- Replacing every screen without changing behaviour. The app had to work exactly as before and simply look and feel better.
- A component library that outlives me. It had to stay usable for developers who were not there when it was built.

Envola now has a fresh, consistent interface on the same solid foundations, and the team keeps building with the component library. Nicholas wrote that I “revamped our entire UI layer while adhering to our existing architecture, without ever touching the business logic”.
